Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule has revealed that he almost moved to the Premier League earlier in his career, having previously been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United.
Speaking told Goal and DAZN, Sule explains how close he came to leaving Germany:
It was a thought to go to the Premier League [in 2017]. This is one of the leagues in which I really want to play. At the time, however, I saw the change to Munich as the best step. And, as you can see, I am very happy at Bayern.
Back in the summer of 2017, Sule was a wanted man. He was attracting interest from many major European clubs. Chelsea and Bayern Munich were both interested, but for him, the lure of the German club was too much to resist.
Manchester United were also heavily linked with a move to sign Sule as recently as last year.
The Red Devils were said to be the latest team ready to offer him a chance to play in England, but it wasn’t to be for the German international.
Since joining the Bundesliga heavyweights, Sule has gone on to become one of the most feared defenders in Germany and the whole of Europe.
