Bayern Munich are expecting Leroy Sane to make a decision on his future at Manchester City this week.
The Bundesliga champions’ chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, as quoted by The Daily Mail, discussed the club’s pursuit of the winger, whose position at the Etihad Stadium has come under scrutiny in recent months.
Sane struggled to feature regularly for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City last season but still made a reasonable impact as the club retained their Premier League crown, pipping Liverpool by one point to the title.
Bayern, as per the report from The Daily Mail, have proceeded to make the Germany international their top transfer target this summer, but he could cost up to £90 million.
Any deal for Sane would smash the club’s transfer record, but for now, Rummenigge is awaiting the player’s decision. He said:
He wanted to think about his future while on holiday. Now we have to wait.
The current situation with Sane is that he comes back from vacation this week. We are still looking for wingers as we lost two valuable players in [Arjen] Robben and [Franck] Ribery.
Bayern will reportedly refrain from lodging a formal offer until they are made aware of the winger’s interest in arriving at the Allianz Arena.
Why moving to Bayern makes sense for Sane
Guaranteed game time
Sane would be one of the first names on the team sheet at Bayern. Regular football would be guaranteed.
Niko Kovac affords his wide players the chance to express themselves. This would suit Sane’s skillset.
Chance to become the main man
Sane would have the chance to truly establish himself as a talisman for his side. He could channel his world-class potential at Bayern.
Relationship with Pep
Sane’s relationship with Guardiola is understood to be rather frosty. He could be keen to seek pastures new elsewhere as a consequence of this.
