Reliable and respected German football journalist Raphael Honigstein has confirmed Bayern’s interest in Manchester City’s Leroy Sane.
In a report for Unibet, Honigstein confirms that the Bundesliga champions are hoping to seal a deal for the German winger this summer.
Sane has seen his long-term future at City thrown into doubt in recent weeks as he is yet to sign a new deal with the club.
Add to that concerns about his relationship with manager Pep Guardiola, there have been suggestions that he could be moved on this summer.
Honigstein adds that the player’s representatives are aware that City could cash in on the player now.
Bayern are in desperate need of a new winger following the summer departures of both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
Eager to rejuvenate their attack, the German international is viewed as the perfect fit as the Bavarian outfit try to become Europe’s elite once again.
Is it the right time for Sane to move on?
An opening at Bayern
At Bayern Munich, he could quickly become the main man, the marquee signing to replace Robben and Ribery. That will surely appeal to the winger.
Bayern are reportedly eager to add some German youth to their attack and playing alongside Serge Gnabry in attack and potentially Timo Werner, should he follow, would do wonders for their international careers.
Run his time at City
Under Guardiola at least, it looks like Sane has done his time at City and a move away will kick start his blossoming career.
Could he benefit from a less demanding environment?
Everybody knows that Guardiola demands such high standards and that seems to be where Sane has fallen off the track at City. He could benefit from a less demanding coach to simplify his game.
