Eintracht Frankfurt defender Jetro Willems is set to be a man in demand this summer, with Newcastle United and AS Roma in the race for his signature.
Speaking to the VTBL on RTL, as cited in a report from GGFN, the left-back confirmed that the English and Italian sides are both keen to land him during the transfer window.
Willems is understood to have grown unhappy with his current situation at Eintracht, with his opportunities in the starting line-up having been relatively limited under Adi Hutter.
This shortage in regular minutes for the Dutchman coincided with the manager’s decision to utilise Filip Kostic in a deeper, wing-back role, and the Serbian has been signed permanently from Hamburg already this summer.
Willems is seemingly being eyed by Newcastle as they look to add more quality to their current options at left-back. Rafa Benitez is currently calling upon Paul Dummett and Matt Ritchie as options on the flank.
Roma, meanwhile, are in a more luxurious position but appear to still be keen on the Netherlands international as they aim to provide competition for Aleksandar Kolarov.
Stay put in Germany
