Liverpool could reportedly make a move to sign Lille winger Nicolas Pepe ‘in the coming weeks’, according to reports in France.
L’Equipe, as cited on Get French Football News, claims that the Reds ‘will position themselves for a move’, ahead of the summer transfer window.
Pepe is widely expected to leave Lille this summer after a fantastic season in Ligue 1.
The Ivorian has played a key role in helping his side push up to second in the table and his performances are not going unnoticed.
The likes of Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been credited with an interest.
It is claimed that Inter have made an official written offer to sign Pepe this summer, but it remains to be seen how much a move to Italy appeals to the player.
While Liverpool already have a potent front three, Jurgen Klopp clearly remains keen to add some extra firepower to his squad.
Who is best suited to sign Pepe this summer?
Chelsea reportedly see the player as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard. The last player that the Blues signed from Lille turned out to be quite good, didn’t he?
Arsenal will no doubt be looking to strengthen this summer but it looks like they could simply get priced out of a move for Pepe.
There could be an opening for Pepe in Germany, with Bayern looking to strengthen out wide. Their interest could rise if Chelsea refuse to sell Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Liverpool clearly like what they see in the player, but unless someone is on their way out of Anfield, it is hard to see where he fits into Jurgen Klopp’s plans on a regular basis.
