Mainz will demand a club record fee for midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin if Arsenal shore up their interest this summer.
The 23-year old has shone for the Bundesliga club this season, and has attracted the interest of the Gunners, according to a recent report from Fussball News.
Kicker also report that Gbamin is interested in a move to the Premier League, and would be very keen on making the switch to England this summer.
However, according to a report from Fussball Transfers, Gbamin would prove costly for Arsenal or any other prospective buyers, with Mainz likely to demand a record transfer fee.
Abdou Diallo currently holds that record, selling for around €28million when he moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2018.
It is expected that Gbamin would cost around €30million.
Mainz sports chief Rouven Schroder confirmed that the club would only sell for a substantial price, and was quoted as saying:
He [Gbamin] is far from gone, even if many clubs are interested. He has a long-term contract with us until 2023.
If we lose such a player, it has to pay off financially.
