Manchester United have contacted Bayern Munich over a potential move for Niklas Sule this summer, as they begin their search for a central defender once again.

The 23-year-old scored the only goal of the game in Bayern’s narrow 1-0 win over Werder Bremen on Saturday, and has been a key figure for Niko Kovac this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly keen on overhauling his squad this summer and, according to the Mirror via German outlet Sport1, the United boss has already enquired over the availability of Sule.

Solskjaer saw his side crumble to a 4-0 defeat against Everton on Sunday afternoon, emphasising United’s need for a defender with the calibre of the Germany international.

Sule has played 27 of Bayern’s 30 Bundesliga games this season, and is reportedly valued at £40million by the Bavarians.

The defender moved to the German champions from Hoffenheim in a £21million move in 2017, and has three years left on his current deal with Bayern.

Would Sule be a good signing for Manchester United?
