Inter Milan are prepared to break the bank to pip Bayern Munich to the signing of LOSC Lille star Nicolas Pepe this summer.
According to a report from France Football, as cited by L’Equipe, the Serie A giants have submitted a €60 million offer for the Ivorian international, who has been in fine form this season.
Pepe has established himself as the talisman of Christophe Galtier’s Lille side and leads the way as the club’s top goalscorer this term.
The 23-year-old has made 32 appearances in Ligue 1 and has regularly been producing. He has found the back of the net on 19 occasions, also contributing with 13 assists for his teammates.
Pepe added to his tally for the season on Sunday night as Lille turned in an outstanding display against Paris Saint-Germain, coming out on top with a 5-1 victory.
Inter appear intent on landing the winger, but they could yet face competition from elsewhere. Bayern and PSG remain keen, according to the report, while Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested.
Assessing the potential destinations for Pepe
Bayern could benefit from signing a winger this summer, and Pepe would provide them with pace and cutting edge in front of goal.
Inter appear intent on bringing Pepe to San Siro this summer, and he’d be a suitable replacement for the ageing Ivan Perisic.
A new wide player is desperately needed at Old Trafford, and Pepe’s ability to score goals from the flanks would boost Manchester United significantly.
Arsenal, too, could benefit from landing a high-quality winger this summer. Pepe would suit Unai Emery’s fast-paced style.
PSG felt the full force of Pepe’s class on Sunday night, but questions can be asked regarding whether or not he’s good enough to displace either Kylian Mbappe or Neymar on the wings.
