Crystal Palace have joined the race for Bundesliga forward Max Kruse, according to reports.
The Werder Bremen forward has been linked with a summer move to the Premier League in recent times, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly keen, however new reports are linking the Eagles with a fresh approach.
The London club are, according to Calciomercato, keen on tying up a summer deal for the experienced German, whose long-term future in the German top flight has come under scrutiny.
Serie A giants Inter Milan are also reportedly keen on the 31-year old’s services.
Kruse has scored 10 goals and assisted nine in 28 Bundesliga appearances this season, and would be considered a solid signing by a number of clubs across the continent.
With Kruse’s contract set to expire this summer, the Germany international appears destined to move to greener pastures.
Palace’s interest likely relates to recent reports that their chances of signing Chelsea loan striker Michy Batshuayi on a permanent basis next summer are slim.
Why moving to the Premier League could be a good move for Max Kruse
The 31-year old has been playing consistently in the Bundesliga since 2012, and approaching the twilight of his career, the German would surely appreciate the opportunity to try his hand at a new competition.
Kruse’s goalscoring record in the Bundesliga has been both consistent and impressive in recent years, and a number of Premier League clubs would gladly recruit a man with his track record.
No real risk
With his contract set to expire in the summer, Kruse would be a risk-free signing on a free move.
With reliable players not easy to come by for a sensible fee in current football, a free move is worth it.
In a results based industry, it is hard to rely on a player moving to a new environment. However, with Kruse’s statistics representing his ability to both create and score opportunities, he could be worth the move.
