Borussia Dortmund face competition from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign David Neres from Ajax this summer.
According to a report from The Telegraph, the Bundesliga giants saw their pursuit of the Brazilian fall through during the January transfer window as the Eredivisie outfit retained the services of their key man.
Neres has been in excellent form for Ajax throughout the campaign and recently netted in their 1-1 draw against Juventus in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
The winger will reportedly cost approximately €40 million this summer, which is likely to be affordable for the prestigious clubs across Europe.
Neres’s form has not gone unnoticed this season, and a whole host of clubs appear to be pondering summer swoops for the player.
According to The Telegraph, Premier League duo Arsenal and Everton are at the front of the queue.
The pair have already staged talks over a deal for the 22-year-old, and Dortmund may be forced to step up their efforts to lure him away from Amsterdam ahead of next season.
Assessing the potential destinations for Neres
Neres would add a natural winger to a currently stretched Manchester United side, who could lose Juan Mata this summer on a free.
Arsenal could benefit from signing more attacking quality, and Neres would provide them with greater unpredictability in the final third.
With Eden Hazard’s future at Chelsea uncertain, Neres would add more quality to the wide areas.
Everton desperately need more attacking talent to propel them into European contention. Neres could give them the edge that they need.
Dortmund’s reputation for nurturing young players in the ilk of Neres could come in handy as they attempt to secure his services.
Alternatively, Neres could stay put at Ajax. He is enjoying his football and has struck up a good relationship with Dusan Tadic and Hakim Ziyech in the front three.
