Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic is a summer target for Bayern Munich, according to a report in FC Inter News.
The Croatian’s representatives have been in touch with the Bundesliga giants regarding a move at the end of the season, along with Inter Milan.
Kovacic is currently on loan at Stamford Bridge, having been allowed to leave Real Madrid last summer.
The 24-year-old has largely disappointed, however, not often producing enough substance in the middle of the park and failing to score in 40 appearances this season.
Kovacic will go back to Madrid when the campaign reaches its conclusion, but returning manager Zinedine Zidane does not see him as part of his future plans.
Chelsea’s potential transfer ban would stop them from signing the Croatia international on a permanent basis.
That is a key reason why Kovacic’s representatives are looking elsewhere, although it is unknown exactly how keen the Blues would be to retain his services anyway.
