Bayern Munich are reportedly preparing a bid worth €110 million for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who has recently been linked with a move to Manchester United.
The Senegalese centre-back has been superb for his side this season and appears to have attracted interest from some of Europe’s footballing heavyweights.
Koulibaly is a vital player for Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti, but it seems the Serie A giants will face an uphill battle if they are to hang on to him this summer.
According to a report from Il Mattino, as cited by Calciomercato, the defender is reluctant to leave the Stadio San Paolo but has emerged as a primary target for Bayern Munich.
Niko Kovac is understood to be keen on revamping his first-team squad this summer and will begin with work on his defence, as he lines up a reportedly mammoth €110m swoop for Koulibaly.
However, Bayern will face competition from elsewhere if they are to pursue the centre-back, with Manchester United long-term admirers of the player.
Five possible destinations for Koulibaly
United require a top-drawer centre-back, and Koulibaly would be a perfect fit.
Real Madrid may need more defensive muscle if Raphael Varane leaves, and Koulibaly would be a reliable addition.
Bayern seem intent on adding to their defensive ranks, so Koulibaly would be a significant upgrade on their current options.
Liverpool could move to the next level with a top-class central defender like Koulibaly alongside Virgil van Dijk.
PSG could see Koulibaly as a player who can spur them on to more success in the Champions League.
