Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the Reds were among the teams that tried to sign Jadon Sancho when he left Manchester City.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Klopp confirmed that Liverpool were keen to bring the player to Anfield, but Manchester City refused to sell to another Premier League club.
Sancho took the bold decision to turn down a big-money contract at City in order to pursue first-team football elsewhere.
He became the first of many young Premier League stars to turn to the Bundesliga for playing time.
During his time in Germany, he has gone from strength to strength and is now a regular in their starting XI, as well as cementing his place in the England senior squad.
Sancho would not have been short of suitors once it became clear he would be leaving City, but Pep Guardiola’s side were clearly unwilling to strengthen a direct rival.
