Jadon Sancho is hoping to make an impact when Borussia Dortmund travel to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The 18-year-old is a vital player for Lucien Favre’s team and has played a crucial role in the club’s rise to the very top of the Bundesliga this season.
He will be determined to start and impress when he returns to his homeland of England for Dortmund’s round of 16 first leg clash against Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Wembley Stadium.
As quoted by the Daily Mail, the ex-Manchester City youngster spoke of how he is relishing the prospect of playing in his hometown. He said:
Going back to Wembley will just be a nice feeling because that is the home stadium of England and playing there in front of my family and my friends, they are just going to be so amazed and so proud of me I think.
I never really felt pressure when I used to play in England. That is home for me. I would love to play in front of my hometown.
Tottenham hosted Dortmund in the group stages of the Champions League last season and were victorious. A goal from Heung-min Son and a brace from Harry Kane cancelled out Andriy Yarmolenko’s strike for the visitors.
Sancho is hopeful that his side’s fortunes will be different this time around. The England international said:
Last time we lost against Tottenham at Wembley but I think we are improved this season. It could be a little bit harder for them this time. Some good players are missing out, we try to take advantage of that.
