German champions Bayern Munich are said to be the favourites to sign Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, according to Le10 Sport, as cited on Sports Mole.
The 23-year-old has also attracted attention from Arsenal after helping the Ligue 1 side to second in the league so far this season, though Bayern have emerged as the favourites according to the report, as their pursuit for a winger continues.
Bayern failed in their attempts to sign Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi in January, with multiple bids in the region of £35 million being rejected, and it now appears they have turned their attention to Lille’s star man.
Pepe has been one of the standout players in Ligue 1 this season, scoring 16 goals and creating eight assists in 23 league appearances, sparking interest from the German champions.
According to the report, Bayern are willing to meet Lille’s valuation of the winger; a fee said to be worth £72 million.
The Ivorian is just one goal behind Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe in the scoring charts this season, though the gap between the two clubs in Ligue 1 is slightly bigger, with the French champions currently 13 points clear of Lille with a game in hand.
