Arsenal are set to reignite their interest in Mainz defender Jean-Philippe Gbamin, according to the Express.
The report claims that Unai Emery remains keen to strengthen at the back over the summer.
Gbamin was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during the previous summer transfer window, but Mainz were refusing to sell.
However, the player himself has reportedly talked up the possibility of leaving the club this summer.
Emery has already been made aware that the club will be working on limited budgets in the summer.
The Arsenal boss was only able to make loan signings during the January window, but permanent deals are expected in the summer.
Mainz had been holding out for £40 million to let Gbamin go, but the Gunners will be hopeful about their chances of knocking down that price.
Arsenal have struggled for depth at the back this season and it will be one area that Emery will want to address in the summer.
