Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo personally contacted Arsenal target and Bayern Munich loanee James Rodriguez to discuss a move to Italy.
According to Marca, as cited on the Mirror, the pair spoke on the phone over the summer, with the Portuguese forward aiming to convince the player about a potential move to Turin.
Rodriguez has been heavily linked with moves away from Bayern in recent months, with Arsenal among the potential destinations for the player.
The Colombian playmaker was linked with a loan move that would have seen Arsenal essentially take over Bayern’s deal with Real Madrid until the end of the season.
Rodriguez is coming to the end of a two-year loan deal with Bayern but looks unlikely to join permanently after failing to settle under Niko Kovac.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez have clearly maintained a good relationship from their time with Real and it appears the former is keen to reunite in Italy.
