Bayern Munich have been joined by Manchester City and Manchester United in the race to sign Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid, according to a report from BILDSport.
Atletico have offered the World Cup winning defender a new three-year contract in an attempt to keep him at the club, but some of Europe’s biggest sides are reportedly keen to sign him.
There is reportedly an €80 million release clause in the Frenchman’s contract with Atleti, a fee which Bayern are seemingly happy to pay.
Diego Simeone’s side are hoping that Hernandez will sign a new deal to increase that fee to a price that nobody will be willing to pay, but there are no signs of the defender agreeing to sign a new contract at this stage.
Hernandez is comfortable playing as a centre-back or as a left-back and he’d be a great option for City or United if either decide to act on this reported interest.
