Bayern are behind RB Leipzig in the race to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi because of one specific transfer clause.
According to Sky Sports reporter Aidan Magee, as cited on the Express, Leipzig are ready to include a buy-back clause in a deal to sign the winger, something Bayern are not willing to accept.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is attracting interest from RB Leipzig and Juventus as well as Bayern Munich. The player’s first choice remains Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, however Chelsea are insisting on a buy-back clause for the 18-year-old.
RB Leipzig would be happy with this arrangement but Bayern are not willing to include one after seeing multiple bids turned down this week.
Chelsea are insisting that a buy-back clause is put into any deal that takes the winger to Germany.
Following the transfer mistakes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Brune in recent years, it has become common practice for Chelsea to include buy-back agreements into deals when players leave the club.
Chelsea have previously done the same with the likes of Thorgan Hazard, Nathaniel Chalobah and Nathan Ake among others.
With concerns over the amount of playing time available at Stamford Bridge, Hudson-Odoi is already being linked with big-money moves, despite not yet breaking through at the club.
Bayern have already reportedly had an offer rejected for the winger, with Chelsea demanding around £40 million.
