Leicester City appear to have moved ahead of Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Filip Benkovic.
The young Croatian defender has been eyed by Dortmund in recent times, according to the Daily Mail, but Leicester are believed to be in active negotiations with Dinamo Zagreb as they look to seal a deal.
It’s claimed by the Mail that Leicester are discussing a transfer that is set to be worth in the region of £13 million, with Claude Puel keen to add to his defensive options ahead of the Premier League curtain-raiser on Friday night.
Benkovic has, for some years now, established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in Croatia and Dortmund were understood to have emerged as potential suitors for the central defender.
Lucien Favre has already seen Abdou Diallo added to his defensive ranks this summer, but it seems as though Dortmund could miss out on the signing of Benkovic, with Leicester closing in.
