Borussia Monchengladbach are one of several teams set to miss out on French striker Alassane Plea, who now looks set to join Tottenham.
As per a report from the Telegraph, Spurs have been named as favourites for the player because Newcastle were only willing to offer £20 million for the player, but Nice want closer to £27 million.
Plea is in demand this summer but wanted to make the move to Newcastle, according to the report.
The French forward has his eyes on a Premier League switch and in particularly the chance to play under Rafa Benitez at St James’ Park.
Gladbach had been stuck in negotiations with Nice over a deal for the player, but they were also unwilling to meet the Ligue 1 side’s asking price.
Spurs have been linked with a move for Plea throughout the summer and view the player as an alternative to Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, who they were also keen to bring into the club.
