Manchester United have added Bayern defender Jerome Boateng to their list of potential transfer targets.
The Manchester Evening News claims the German international is under consideration after the club ended their interest in Toby Aldweireld.
Aldweireld had been a long-term target for United but there are now doubts about the defender’s profile.
Boateng has seen his Bayern future thrown up in the air of late, with reports claiming the club could look to cash in on him this summer.
The defender struggled last season under Carlo Ancelotti, failing to match the incredible form that he showed under Pep Guardiola.
Raphael Varane, Kalidou Koulibaly, Milan Skriniar, Alessio Romagnoli, Jose Gimenez and Caglar Soyuncu are also being scouted by the Premier League side.
Mourinho has made it his mission this summer to sign a central defender that can help the club mount a serious title challenge in the new season.
