Lautaro Martinez appears set to complete a long-awaited move to European football this summer, and the striker wasn’t short of options according to his agent.
Martinez has caught the eye for Racing in the last 12 months, netting 11 goals in 13 games so far this season which has seen him emerge on Arsenal’s and Barcelona’s radar, but the 20-year-old’s agent Beto Yaque confirms a move to Inter Milan is 90% done.
Yaque also goes on to confirm there was interest from a number of top European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Manchester United.
Lautaro to Inter is practically done, we’re at 90 per cent. Only the medical and some details are missing. Initially there was Manchester City, then a lot of teams like Roma, Fiorentina, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.
There’s no chance of the deal with Inter collapsing though, we’re just looking for the right moment for the lad to have his medical in Milan without losing several days of training.
If there’s no role for him in the first-team squad next season at Inter, Martinez could leave the San Siro club on loan, Yaque suggested.
There’s no chance that Lautaro will remain at Racing after June, then if Inter want to give him away we’ll see. The Nerazzurri project convinced him and if [Mauro] Icardi is sold Lautaro will take the number 9.
Martinez is a great player and Inter is a great club for his first step in Europe. The Nerazzurri directors and [Vice-President Javier] Zanetti talked about their Inter project, with Martinez at the centre.
Dortmund will be in the market for a striker in the summer if they can’t keep Chelsea loanee Michy Batshuayi on a permanent deal, but Martinez is one target they can strike off their list.
