Both Liverpool and Manchester United are expected to make a major effort to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic in the summer, but they won’t find any potential move for the American to be straight-forward as Dortmund have put a huge asking price on their star man.
The Bundesliga side, according to Sport1, will ask for €100m (£88.2m) for the teenager, so Liverpool would need to break their transfer record to get him whilst United will need to pay a similar fee to the one that paid for Paul Pogba.
That figure is more than eight times the amount that Liverpool tried to get Pulisic for back in 2016, when they bid just £11million for him.
Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho are reportedly big fans of the winger and getting an American player will obviously be great for marketing their clubs in the USA, but spending such a large fee on a teenager does seem somewhat risky.
However, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham set to strengthen in the summer, both Liverpool and United will know that they’ll need to splash the cash and if Pulisic is the man who they think can help them, either club might br prepared to spend big to get him.
