Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah’s impressive performances over the last 18 months have seen him earn his first call-up to the Germany international setup but the defender is now being strongly linked with a move away.
German sports magazine Kicker have reported that Borussia Dortmund will look to sign Tah from their Bundesliga rivals, while Juventus are also interested along with unnamed top-five Premier League clubs.
Speaking to Reviersport, Tah has spoken about the rumours linking him with other clubs, remaining coy on a potential move.
It honours me when big clubs show interest, because it’s a confirmation of my good performances.
It motivates me. It’s does me good. Let me put it this way: my goal is to turn myself into the best player I can be. And I can’t say which path I will take.
I have a valid contract here, I am happy at Leverkusen. The club’s big, but also very much like a family. I feel I am rated by fans and the leadership. And the club wants to play in the Champions League. That’s why it’s a top club for me.
Contracted until 2020, the 21-year-old has a €25m release clause in his contract which makes him a cost-effective target with high potential for a number of clubs.
While Kicker have refused to identify which Premier League clubs are chasing Tah, both Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with a move for the centre-back in the past and are arguably the likely candidates to be chasing him, while Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham make up the rest of the Premier League’s top five and could also be considered as potential suitors according to the information from Kicker.
