According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are tracking Breel Embolo’s progress as they want to keep spending and adding to their already world-class front-line. Arsenal and Manchester United have both been linked with the attacker in recent transfer windows.
Embolo joined Schalke from Basel last season for €22.5m but couldn’t make much of an impression after suffering ankle fracture, medial collateral ligament damage and a ruptured joint but he did impress whilst making 12 appearances for the German side, scoring two and assisting one.
Despite injuries, he is still one of the biggest talents in football and if City were to sign him, he would be part of a stunning frontline, which consists of more young talents such as Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.
Embolo would hope to put his injury history behind him this season and show the form he showed at Basel at Schalke and maybe to earn a move to a bigger club like Manchester City by the end of the season.
He will also want to improve to get into the Switzerland squad for the 2018 Russia World Cup at the end of the campaign, which his side qualified for on Sunday against Northern Ireland.
