Barcelona reportedly made contact with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over a move in the summer.
According to a report from Spanish news outlet Sport, the Catalan giants were keen to land the Borussia Dortmund striker, but had other priorities in the summer window.
Barcelona were free-spending throughout the window, and focused their attentions elsewhere. Ernesto Valverde and his team were able to lure Ousmane Dembele, Aubameyang’s former teammate, to the Nou Camp, and were also intent on landing Philippe Coutinho in a deal worth over £100 million from Liverpool.
It’s stated in the report that Aubameyang was more than receptive to the talks between him and Barcelona. However, Dortmund did not want to lose their key man, and refused to discuss a move for the Gabon international.
However, if a gigantic offer had been made before the Bundesliga season had started, Sport claim that Dortmund would have considered a sale.
Manchester City and PSG were both also linked with Aubameyang.
