Julian Draxler has been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible move to the French giant, according to German news outlet Spox.
The German attacker is eyeing a move away following Die Wolves poor start to the season, which has seen them slump to within three points of the drop zone.
It’s not the first time his future has been under scrutiny as the playmaker had a war of words with then-manager Dieter Hecking in the summer after confusion over his release clause which wasn’t active until next season.
The 23-year-old made the controversial move from Schalke to Wolfsburg in 2015 and has since struggled with injuries but has made 36 appearances, scoring six goals.
Despite talks, the deal is not certain according to a source close to the club.
At the moment, there is no final agreement, but we continue to work towards it.
The 18 months Draxler has been at Wolfsburg have been disappointing. In the season prior to his VELTINS-Arena departure, Wolfsburg challenged Bayern Munich and finished second, winning the DFB Pokal. However, since Draxler’s arrival, Wolfsburg have struggled and last season slumped to an eighth-placed finish in the Bundesliga.
Draxler still has four years left on his contract at the Volkswagen Arena, despite Wolfsburg’s reluctance to let him go, it will be hard for them to keep the disgruntled player.
Also interested in the German attacker are Premier League-chasing Arsenal. The Gunners have been linked with the former-Schalke man a number of times in the past.
Julian Draxler’s agent, Roger Wittmann said today:
He’s hesitating between PSG & Arsenal. A decision will be made in the coming days.
