FC Koln have recently announced that Jonas Hector has extended his contract with the club until 2021, alongside Leonardo Bittencourt.
The 26-year-old has had interest from Premier League side Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, former Borussia Dortmund and Mainz 05 manager. There were reports of Hector and Koln starting negotiations last week, and now we know the left back will stay in Germany.
Hector was brought up to the FC Koln first time at the beginning of the 2012/13 season. Since then he has made 132 appearances across all competitions, and was part of the squad that saw Koln promoted back to the Bundesliga.
His performances got the 26-year-old a place in Germany’s Euro 2016 team. The defender had a good competition, although Germany were knocked out in the semi-finals by France.
FC Koln start their 2016/17 season at home to SV Darmstadt 98 on Aug. 27, and a week later will travel to face VfL Wolfsburg.
