Liverpool have enquired about the availability of Hoffenheim defender Niklas Süle, according to a report from BILD.
The 20-year-old currently plays in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim, the same side who Liverpool got Brazilian star Roberto Firmino from in the summer.
According to the report, the 6’5″ striker is a target for Jurgen Klopp and after the weekend’s horror show from Martin Skrtel in particular, it makes sense for Liverpool to be looking for defensive reinforcements.
With Kolo Toure and on-loan Steven Caulker expected to be let go from Liverpool, the Reds look to have identified Süle as a replacement.
With Joe Gomez set to return from a serious knee injury and Joel Matip coming in from Schalke, the signing of Süle may lead to another departure, with Skrtel the most likely to leave.
Süle has played every minute of Hoffenheim’s Bundesliga campaign this season, so despite being a young defender, he certainly has a lot of experience under his belt.
