Manchester United are set to table a staggering £70 million summer bid for Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reports Rob Draper from the Mail on Sunday.
Aubameyang, 26, was left out of the squad that beat Hannover 96 1-0 yesterday after the Gabonese international picked up a knock in training.
Today, he took part in individual training as he faces a race against the clock to be fit for the Europa League tie against FC Porto on Thursday.
This season, Aubameyang has scored 30 goals for Thomas Tuchel’s side just three short of totalling Manchester United’s entire goals tally in the Premier League.
It’s been announced that the Red Devils have a cash reserve of £121.6 million and Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward announced that there will be star signings headed to Old Trafford.
With the run of recent results, pressure is building on current United boss Louis van Gaal after their 2-1 away defeat to struggling Sunderland.
Rumours are circulating around the Dutchman’s future and there’s a possibility that he could be replaced by Jose Mourinho. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Old Trafford hot seat but it is clear that the money reserved needs to be spent on improvements to the squad.
As well as the 26-year-old, United are reportedly interested in fellow German league striker Robert Lewandowski. However, the Polish superstar seems to have his eyes on a move to Liga BBVA to link up with the likes of Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
