Liverpool have reportedly joined the race for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal, who has just over a year remaining on his contract with the German champions.
Caughtoffside, who cite Transfermarketweb are reporting that the Reds will rival Manchester United and Chelsea for his signature.
Any deal for the Chilean international could cost around £53m, and Jurgen Klopp could be forced to bolster his midfield options should Emre Can leave Anfield on the expiry of his contract this summer.
Vidal would bring a wealth of experience to the Reds, having claimed four Serie A titles, three Bundesliga crowns and two Copa Americas.
The 30-year-old has scored six times in 35 appearances this season, but is thought to be seeking a new challenge away from Germany.
Chelsea could be keen on Vidal due to the inconsistency of Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko, who were both bought in following the departure of Nemanja Matic last summer.
As for Manchester United, Michael Carrick is retiring at the end of the season and Marouane Fellaini has been repeatedly linked with a move from Old Trafford, meaning Jose Mourinho could be left light on midfield options.
Klopp will be keen to build on the successes of this season, having reached the semi finals of the Champions League and possibly finishing runners up to Manchester City in the Premier League.
