At 25, David Alaba is still coming into his prime as a footballer despite already being regarded as one of the world’s best at his position and has been for some time, and now Bayern Munich seemingly face a fight to keep a hold of the Austrian.
After nearly a decade at the club, Alaba recently hinted that he was keen to seek a new challenge away from Bayern in a recent interview with Austrian outlet Kurier.
I am aware that I one day will have to make the decision, and I still feel great here. But I can also imagine taking a different path, making the next step or seeking a new challenge.
But I leave that open for now. I have goals for this season I want to reach. That’s why there is no place for those thoughts right now.
These comments have alerted the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid who are both strongly considering mega bids for the left-back in the summer.
Jordi Alba and Marcelo remain in the conversation along with Alaba for the title of best left-back in the world football, but both Barcelona and Real Madrid want to provide competition for their respective fullbacks.
However, the La Liga pair face competition from the Premier League for his signature as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all monitoring his situation with a view to making summer bids.
