Since making a £10m move to Red Bull Leipzig in the summer of 2016, there have been few strikers in the Bundesliga than Timo Werner.
After bagging 21 goals and seven assists in 32 appearances for Leipzig in his debut season with the club, Werner has followed that up with 14 goals and four assists in 28 games this campaign and has established himself as a regular in the Germany international setup over the last 18 months.
The 21-year-old is under contract with Leipzig until June 2020 but the striker has been linked with a big-money move away from the club with Liverpool and Real Madrid among those keen on the attacker.
Sporting Director Ralf Ragnick has disputed claims that Werner will be leaving the club anytime soon, revealing that the striker is in talks to extend his contract with last season’s Bundesliga runners-up.
Timo definitely knows he is still playing with us now and next season, We are also in talks to adjust and extend his contract.
Liverpool and Real Madrid are set to be joined by Atletico Madrid in the race to sign Werner in the summer as Diego Simeone wants the German to be his replacement for Antoine Griezmann who is a target for Barcelona.
