Bayern Munich thought they had secured the signature of one of European football’s best young talents during the summer transfer window, but a deal with Barcelona for highly-rated defender Mateu Jaume unfortunately fell through.

The 17-year-old has caught the eye for Barcelona in the UEFA Youth League this season and is still being heavily linked with a move away from the La Liga side, and Bayern are among those keen in acquiring him, but they face competition from the Premier League.

It’s believed that Pep Guardiola, who has ties to Barcelona and their La Masia academy, would like to sign the teenager in the January transfer window. Serie A giants Juventus are also ready to rival Bayern for his signature.

Jaume played a starring role for Spain at the U17 World Cup in India earlier in the Autumn and helped his side reach the final where they were defeated by England.

Barcelona are set to hold talks with the talented full-back in the fear future to fend off interest from Manchester City, Juventus and Bayern Munich.
