Leon Goretzka has been linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs in recent weeks and months, but one major contender for his signature appear to have ruled themselves out of the running for now.

Barcelona scout Ariedo Braida says the La Liga giants aren’t looking to sign the Schalke midfielder anytime soon.

He is certainly a great player, but for Barcelona it is too soon. I travel around the world in search of great talent, but our demands are extremely high.

Goretzka was impressive for Germany at the Confederations Cup back in the summer and has been strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich next summer when his contract expires.

Schalke have tried to offer him a new contract to stay at the Bundesliga club but so far their efforts have been unrewarded as a move away is growing increasingly likely.

The likes of Juventus, Arsenal and Liverpool have all also been credited with an interest in signing Goretzka, while Manchester City and Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the situation.
