Schalke will offer Leon Goretzka a huge new contract as they try to prevent him joining Arsenal or Liverpool on a free transfer.
The German club have lost a few players to the Premier League for free in recent years and will be hoping that Goretzka does not become the latest.
The German international has yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal which means means he is free to talk to interested clubs in January and both Arsenal and Liverpool are expected to make moves to sign him.
As reported by Kicker, Schalke are prepared to make the 22-year-old the highest paid player in their history in order to get him to stay, but it’s unclear whether even that will be enough to keep him out of the grasp of the Prenier League duo.
The likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona have also been linked with the midfielder but the most concrete links seem to be with Arsenal and Liverpool
