Anthony Modeste could be about to complete his long-awaited move to the Chinese Super League this summer after Cologne accepted an offer from Tianjin Quanjin for the striker.
The deal will see Tianjin pay Cologne £5.3m to take Modeste on a season-long loan, with an option to buy the Frenchman for £25.6m.
Premier League outfit West Ham saw a £20m bid rejected for the striker earlier in the summer with Cologne holding out for more, but it seems they’re willing to accept a lucrative loan deal.
Modeste scored 25 Bundesliga goals last season, only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski scored more in the Bundesliga.
The 29-year-old centre-forward has been expected to complete a transfer away from Cologne this summer and it appears as if the Chinese outfit have won the race for his signature.
As for West Ham, they’re targeting another Bundesliga striker in Javier Hernandez but they are struggling to agree personal terms with the Bayer Leverkusen man.
