Former Tottenham midfielder Paulinho is reportedly set to join German champions Bayern Munich this summer, according to Globo Esporte, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The Brazilian midfielder is currently playing in the Chinese Super League for Guangzhou Evergrande but has emerged as a target for Bayern with Carlo Ancelotti keen to strengthen his squad this summer.

Bayern had their nerves tested this season through the emergence of RB Leipzig in Germany’s top flight, and knows he will need to strengthen ahead of their title defence.

Paulinho has had an impressive stint in the Chinese Super League, winning two Chinese league titles, two Chinese Super Cups, one Chinese Cup and one AFC Champions League throughout his time there.

Despite moving to China, he has remained regularly involved with the Brazilian national team and has put in a number of impressive performances for his country.

Ancelotti has reportedly has his eyes on the Brazilian for some time and he appears to be closing in on a return to European football.
