Schalke were dealt a rotten hand when summer loan signing Baba Rahman went down with a meniscus injury in late December are a fine first half of the season with the club – but they want another year with the left-back.

The Daily Mail report that Schalke are poised to take Baba Rahman on a second loan spell next season providing he recovers from his knee injury.

Rahman joined Chelsea in a £17m deal from Augsburg back in August 2015 but failed to impress in his 23 appearances for the Blues and returned to the Bundesliga on loan with Schalke for the 2016/17 season.

Chelsea still believe that the 22-year-old has what it takes to be a Premier League regular for them but will look to loan him out again next season to get him some minutes under his belt before returning to Stamford Bridge in 2018.

Fellow Premier League side Everton are interested in signing the Ghanaian in the summer, as are Serie A giants AC Milan but it appears that Schalke have the inside track on any deal.
