Pep Guardiola had many tussles with Borussia Dortmund during his time as Bayern Munich manager over players, but he seems set to battle the Bundesliga giants for a player for the first time at Manchester City.

According to the Mirror, both City and Dortmund are looking to sign talented young Barcelona defender Marc Cucurella in the summer.

The young left-back joined Barcelona in 2012 from the Espanyol academy and has been developing in the La Masia setup, and Guardiola is very familiar with the player.

Yet to make his senior debut for Barcelona, Cucurella is poised to leave the La Liga giants in the summer when his contract expires in search of regular first-team football and he could have an opportunity at City.

Guardiola is set to allow Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta to leave the club at the end of the season when their contracts expire, leaving the Premier League club incredibly short of fullback options.

Dortmund meanwhile, spent good money to bring Raphael Guerrero to the club last summer and also have captain Marcel Schmeltzer who compete at left-back.
