Thomas Tuchel has his eyes set on bringing in talented young midfielders to the club in January.

It’s been reported that Arsenal’s sought-after 19-year-old Gedion Zelalem is close to agreeing a move to Borussia Dortmund having failed to break into the first-team at the Emirates.

The Daily Mail have reported that Dortmund are also keen on signing Montpellier’s highly-rated midfielder Morgan Sanson to the club this month but do face competition from West Ham, while GFFN list Premier League outfits West Brom and Swansea as other potential destinations.

The 22-year-old spent the majority of last season in the physio room following an ACL tear late in the 2014/15 season. Sanson did return to action briefly midway through last season but a lingering knee issue caused him to miss another extended period of time.

Back at full strength, Sanson has resumed his role as chief string-puller in the Montpellier midfield, contributing seven assists and three goals in 19 Ligue 1 appearances in 2016/17, putting him back on the radar of a number of European clubs.

Louis Nicollin, Montpellier’s club president, spoke on Monday about Sanson’s future with the club and stated that it would take offers in the region of €20-25m to tempt them into selling their star man.

“Morgan Sanson will not leave this winter unless we are offered 20-25 million. In June, we’ll see,” Nicollin is quoted as saying by Le10Sport.

Marseille and AS Roma are also interested in the former France U21 international who’s regarded as one of the most promising young talents in the country.
