Bayern Munich get their Champions League campaign off against FK Rostov from the Russian Premier League.

The Bavarian’s were drawn in Group D alongside Atletico Madrid, Rostov, and PSV Eindhoven.

FK Rostov get their first ever Champions League Group Stage started at the Allianz Arena after they shocked many by beating Ajax in the Champions League Play-offs.

No Russian club has ever beaten Bayern Munich in the Champions League, won nine and drew three. Die Bayern have won their last five games against Russian opposition scoring 16 and conceding just once.

Rostov, along with Leicester, are the only team to make their Champions League Group Stage debut this season. They are the sixth Russian side to appear in the group stage.

The Russian side had to go through two qualifying rounds to get to face Bayern Munich, they first knocked out Anderlecht before knocking out Ajax.

Carlo Ancelotti will take charge of a Champions League game for his seventh club – a record for the competition. Ancelotti is looking to overtake Bob Paisley with the most European Cup/Champions League wins as manager.

Bayern Munich Head Coach declared that Douglas Costa will not start on the bench in preparation to get him match fit for the game on Saturday. Kingsley Coman, Holger Badstuber, Jerome Boateng and Arjen Robben will miss Rostov’s visit.

Highly rated attacker Sardar Azmoun is a doubt for Rostov’s trip to Germany, two casualties for Rostov are Maksim Grigoryev – who will miss the game through injury, and Aleksandr Fyodorovich who is suspended for the Group Opener.
