The Bundesliga is finally back, and the first weekend of the 2016/17 season provided a lot of goals and a lot of action.

The season got properly started with a Friday evening game at the Allianz Arena, with Bayern Munich hosting Werder Bremen. The defending champions thrashed their opponents, making the 6-0 victory look very easy.

Borussia Dortmund got off to a good start, although Mainz showed that they could be an issue through the season to other teams. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice, although he is losing the top scorer race to Robert Lewandowski who is already on three goals.

FC Koln looked great during their game against Darmstadt, while Eintracht Frankfurt started their season with an important win against a difficult Schalke. The biggest game of the weekend was won by Borussia Monchengladbach, as they were able to defeat Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bundesliga returns in two weeks time with international matches taking place, while the transfer window shuts for the summer later this week.
