Mario Gotze is said to be thinking of snubbing Arsenal in favour of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this transfer window.
The Bayern Munich star has been rumoured to be leaving for the last few weeks and reports this evening, from The Mirror and other outlets, go further to confirming his fate come the summer.
The young German is famous for scoring the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final for Germany and has gone on to score 20 goals in 67 Bayern Munich appearances since his big money switch from Klopp’s former side, Borussia Dortmund.
Gotze, 23, has admitted that Klopp provides Liverpool with a real edge in closing the transfer over rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain as the young German international is keen to hook up with his former boss.
The question Liverpool fans will be asking is how much is he going to cost? Well, as Gotze is at the end of his contract (one year remaining) the fee is estimated to be in the region of £15-20m. Much better than what has been touted in previous years.
Although he is only 23 years old, the young star has made a mighty 49 appearances for his country, scoring 16 goals in the process and can certainly see himself as a key component in Germany’s first team come the European Championships this summer.
Will this transfer happen? Quite possibly. Everything seems to be set for it to go ahead and we can’t see why it wouldn’t. Liverpool have the money, they have the manager and are lusting after players to take them back to their former glory. If Gotze, like it’s rumoured, wants to help take them there, then it could be a match made in heaven.
