Liverpool had a scout in attendance at the recent game between Union Berlin and FSV Frankfurt to keep tabs on Taiwo Awoniyi, their Nigerian striker who is currently on loan at Frankfurt.
In the game, Union Berlin emerged as 4-0 winners and forward Bobby Wood managed to score two of the four goals.
Wood is an American striker and has scored 14 goals in the Bundesliga 2 this season, in just 25 appearances.
He’s been capped by his country 14 times and it appears that he is now firmly on Liverpool’s radar.
According to a report from German news outlet Berliner Kurier, Liverpool’s scout was very impressed by the 23-year-old striker and after the game, he made contact with the Berlin club about Wood’s availability.
The striker only joined Union in July of last year for an undisclosed fee, rumoured to be around £600,000, so if Liverpool do want him, it wouldn’t cost them a lot.
