Manchester United are said to have moved further to signing Borussia Dortmund’s star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is also a target for Premier League rivals Arsenal.

According to an article from the Daily Mail, the deal for Aubameyang could rise to a massive £70 million, which would be one of the ten most expensive transfers in the sport. The report says that Arsenal don’t want to spend the majority of their budget on the player.

Aubameyang was born and raised in France, although he plays internationally for Gabon. He originally joined the AC Milan youth team, and played on loan for multiple teams in Ligue 1. He permanently signed to Saint-Étienne in December 2011, and then made the move to Dortmund in July 2013.

The striker has been impressive in the Bundesliga, and is known for his fast pace. This season he has scored 21 goals in 24 Bundesliga games, and is fighting with Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich to be the top goalscorer in the league.

Man United have had a troubling second season under Louis Van Gaal, and are curently two points behind West Ham in sixth.
