Manchester United have shown an interest in signing Werder Bremen youngster Johannes Eggestein, according to German newspaper Weser Kurier.

The 17-year-old not yet made his professional debut for Bremen, but he’s been in fantastic form for their U19s this season, scoring 22 goals in just 16 appearances.

According to the report, United have scouted Eggestein on numerous occasions and are interested in making a move for him in the summer.

If they are to make such a move, they’ll have to compete with Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund for his signature, so it’d be interesting to see if the youngster would prefer to move abroad or to stay and develop in his homeland.

Eggestein is also capable of playing as a winger and he’s been capped by Germany at the U15, U16 & U17 levels and it’s only a matter of time before he plays for the older age groups too.
