The defender is currently on loan at the German club, and their sporting director Max Eberl has made his intentions clear about their intentions of signing the player on a permanent deal.
Eberl told Kicker:
Our intention is to try and get into talks with Chelsea in the summer, Andreas fulfils everything we’ve seen in him. And we are delighted that we were able to take him on loan without any ifs and buts.
The 19-year-old has been a first-team regular in the heart of the ‘gladbach defence this season, which has seen him come up against the likes of Manchester City and Italian champions, Juventus in the Champions League.
It is thought to be unlikely that Christensen will leave Chelsea permanently, the defender is held in very high regard at Stamford Bridge by Blues officials.
