Schalke 04 along with Crystal Palace, Everton, Leicester City and Newcastle United had a bid for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani rejected during the January transfer window.
Portuguese news outlet DN says that Sporting rejected offers ranging from €15million to €24millon throughout the month.
They report that the €15million bid came from Leicester City, but do not mention the bids that any other side made.
It is not a surprise that teams were interested in taking the Algerian in January as he has been in great form this season. He’s bagged 16 goals in 19 league games for Sporting this campaign, and he has also been credited with three assists.
The 27-year-old could have been the answer to the goalscoring troubles of the likes of Palace and Newcastle, and would have been a useful addition to Everton, Leicester and Schalke, but Sporting would not do a deal with any of the interested parties.
